Taking the first step toward counseling is often the most courageous one. It’s a powerful moment of acknowledging that you don’t have to walk your path alone. Here at Steps To Shine Counseling, my goal is to make this process as clear and comforting as possible. There’s no pressure, no judgment—just an open door to a space of safety and support.

Step 1: Reach Out for a Consultation

The best way to begin is by simply reaching out. You can connect with me directly by phone or email. This is not a formal session; it’s a free, no-pressure conversation where you can share a little bit about what’s on your mind and ask any questions you have about my approach, services, or the counseling process.
This is our chance to see if we’re a good fit. Relatability isn’t just a bonus in therapy—it’s the bridge to real trust, and it’s essential that you feel comfortable and understood.

Step 2: Scheduling and Initial Paperwork

If we both feel that Steps To Shine is the right place for you, we will schedule your first official session. I will then send you an invitation to my secure, HIPAA-compliant client portal. All of your intake paperwork will be available there for you to complete at your convenience. This paperwork helps me get to know you better and allows us to make the most of our first meeting.

Step 3: Our First Session Together

Our first session is a foundational step in your healing journey. My primary goal is to create a safe space where you can share your story without feeling rushed or judged. We will spend this time diving deeper into your background, your current challenges, and your hopes for the future.
This is a collaborative process. We will work together to set goals and begin crafting a personalized plan that honors your unique journey. You can expect to leave this session with a sense of clarity, hope, and a clear path forward.
